Toyota Etios Overview
Toyota’s made for India Etios sedan has received the most comprehensive update till date in the last six years. Changes made to the sedan are largely cosmetic and mechanical updates have also been made for enhanced performance and better ride quality. New elements like V-shaped grille, reworked bumper and larger air-intakes have transformed the look from front. Minimal changes are made to the sides and rear end gets redesigned tail lamps, new bumper and chrome accents. Toyota Etios Exterior & Style
Toyota Platinum Etios is a compact sedan with a sharp appearance that is marked by a stylized front grille and radiant headlamps. Intermittent wipers adorn the front windscreen. The upper grille is chrome treated and the lower grille is black in colour. White fog lamps are fitted on both ends of this black lower grille. The bumpers, door handles and Outside Rear-View Mirrors (ORVMs) are of the same colour as the body, and this makes the sedan look extremely elegant.
The side protection moulding comes with chrome insertions and the B-pillar is blacked out. The four 12-spoke alloy wheels are dressed in full wheel caps. Platinum Etios comes with a roof-mounted foldable antenna and the rear end of sedan is embellished with triangular tail lamps. The chrome garnish on its boot adds to the sophistication. Dimensionally, Toyota Etios is 4.27m long, 1.7m wide and 1.51m high. The wheelbase of the sedan is 2550 mm and it provides an incredible ground clearance of 170mm. The turning radius of 4.9m makes it easy to handle.

On the inside, the Toyota Platinum Etios has segment leading cabin and boot space, the latter being at 592 litres for the upper GX, GD, V, VD, VX and VXD variants and 595 litres for the base G trim. A digital tachometer, fuel gauge and an analogue speedometer with blue illumination is placed on top of the centre console. The rear bench can fold to increase luggage space and comes with ISOFIX child seat fittings. The rear also comes with a centre armrest adding comfort for the rear occupants.
The inside ambience of Toyota Platinum Etios is perfectly in sync with its elegant exterior. The bi-tonal premium interior is high on quality and is pleasing to the eyes. The tri-spoke steering wheel has a silver accent on it and the door trim has fabric insertions. The shift knob is accented with chrome and the door armrests have a wood grain finish. The seats are comfortably wide, and the sedan provides adequate legroom and headroom. The driver’s seat is height adjustable and the front headrest can also be adjusted. The pillow-type headrests on the rear seats add to the comfort. There are sun visors on the driver’s and the co-passenger’s sides.
The fuel lid and tailgate are remote-operated. To further enhance convenience, the power window on the driver’s side has the auto-down function, the electric power steering comes with tilt mechanism, the glove box is cooled and 12 V power outlets are provided at the front. The ORVMs can be adjusted internally using an electronic lever. Platinum Etios also comes with a tachometer, a digital tripmeter, front cabin lights and rear defogger. Toyota Etios Engine & Gearbox
The Toyota Platinum Etios is powered by two engines, a 1,496 cc petrol and a 1,364 cc diesel unit. Power and torque generated by the petrol is 88.7hp at 5,600 rpm and 132Nm at 3,000 rpm. The diesel unit produces 67hp at 3,800 rpm and 170Nm between 1,800 rpm and 2,400 rpm. Both engines are refined and inclined towards fuel efficiency.The Toyota Platinum Etios is sold with a 5-speed gearbox on both petrol and diesel variants. The Toyota Platinum Etios is an entry level sedan by the Japanese carmaker and is sold with a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel engine. Like its hatchback sibling, the Etios Liva, the Platinum Etios also has ABS and dual front airbags as standard and is claimed to have best in class air conditioning. Cabin space and boot space are the best in its price segment, with the volume of the latter rated at 592 litres. The Platinum Etios also has a folding rear seat, cooled glovebox and height adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable and foldable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) and steering mounted audio controls to add more convenience for the occupants and the driver. The reverse parking sensors on the upper variants aid parking in tight spots.
